Gateway CNC’s Mission

We are a newly-formed coalition of organizations with a mission to bring together anyone and everyone in the Greater St. Louis Area who is devoted to helping parents reconnect children with nature - safely, enjoyably, and educationally.

Gateway CNC’s Goals

  1. *become THE clearinghouse for ideas, activities, and information related to children’s nature education in the Greater St. Louis Area.

  2. *serve as a communication facilitator between the numerous entities that are stakeholders in children’s nature education in our area.

  3. *perform outreach to teachers, schools, child advocacy groups, parents, government leaders, and business leaders regarding the tremendous value of nature education for ALL children.

  4. *conduct and/or sponsor periodic seminars, discussion forums, and/or facility field trips designed to promote collaboration, cooperation, and learning among the Greater St. Louis Area’s children’s nature education stakeholders.

PLEASE REMEMBER:  In reconnecting children with nature, parents and other adults MUST remain aware that there are possible risks associated with outdoor activity.  Children should be reminded frequently that streams, rocky areas, threatening weather, and other conditions in nature require appropriate attention; BUT, with the proper safety precautions and care, the many rewards of interacting with nature definitely outweigh these possible risks.
