Gateway Children’s Nature Connection

“Helping Children on the Inside by Taking Them Outside”

Welcome to Our Website

This website is intended to provide a valuable resource for everyone in the Greater St. Louis Area who is (or wants to become) involved in resolving our children’s “nature deficit disorder” (a phrase coined by Richard Louv in his book Last Child in the Woods). Parents, teachers, environmental conservationists, health professionals, horticulturalists, professional architects / engineers, nature (ecology) educators, government agencies, business leaders, philanthropists, as well as the print and broadcast media ALL have a role.  Please enjoy exploring the rest of our website.  Simply click on the button(s) to your right for topics of particular interest to you.

NOTEThe next meeting of Gateway CNC (which all members are invited to attend) is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 9 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Commerce Bank Education Center near Missouri Botanical Gardens

In the way of further confirmation of the importance and value of the objective of connecting children with nature, Governor Jay Nixon of Missouri recently issued an Executive Order proposing a Children in Nature Challenge for all of the communities in Missouri to take action to enhance children’s education about nature AND increase opportunities for children to get outdoors and personally experience nature.   For more details,       [ click here ]
