Gateway Children’s Nature Connection

“Helping Children on the Inside by Taking Them Outside”

Welcome to Our Website

“If we want our children to flourish and become truly empowered, then let us help them learn to love the earth before we ask them to save it.”

-- Beyond Ecophobia by David Sobel, 1996

This website is intended to provide a valuable resource for everyone in the Greater St. Louis Area who is (or wants to become) involved in resolving our children’s “nature deficit disorder” (a phrase coined by Richard Louv in his book Last Child in the Woods). Parents, teachers, environmental conservationists, health professionals, horticulturalists, professional architects / engineers, nature (ecology) educators, government agencies, business leaders, philanthropists, as well as the print and broadcast media ALL have a role.  Please enjoy exploring the rest of our website.  Simply click on the button(s) to your right for topics of particular interest to you.
